Some different stuff - Singapore and Bangkok

We read in our guidebooks that blond children are something of a rarity in Asia, and that people are particularly fond of children.  The guidebooks also said that people might ask to hold your kids or take pictures of them.  Now we've lived the experience.

While in the botanical gardens, these two nice ladies and a gentleman accompanying them asked to take a picture.  As many people ask me to take pictures of them with their cameras, this was my first thought.  Turns out they wanted the girls - first together, then individually, starting with Ashley.  This was entertaining for Cathy and I, not as much for the girls.

Ashley running away from another stranger trying to pick her up as Sarah and Lauren posed.

We had a similar encounter in the airport leaving Singapore.  A Chinese woman asked if the girls would be in a picture with her daughter, english name Betty, age 6.

This picture and the next two are flowers in the Bangkok airport.  They are reminders of the near international incident Ashley had as we went through transfer customs.  We were being re-screened through the x-ray and metal detector, and Ashley would not let go of her blanket.  She was very tired and could not understand why people wanted her blanket.  After many tears and much screaming, the Thai security personnel allowed her through with a pat-down of the blanket (still clutched firmly by Ashley).  She didn't like security, but she really loved the flowers :)
