Old Sturbridge Village

Cathy was tipped off to an outstanding deal at Old Sturbridge Village by which we obtained a one-year family membership for less than one day's admission.  We had not been to this living history attraction before, so we didn't know what to expect nor how the kids would react.  Sarah has been excited about the Colonial times she studied in school, and Sarah and Lauren both seemed to retain quite a bit of information from their two recent visits to Mt. Vernon.

Turns out that they loved Old Sturbridge Village and now regularly request a return visit.  The village is actually quite large and well spread out.  It is truly an exploration going from the Meeting House to the potter's and the farm.  The historians wear period clothing but answer questions as modern people.  We're all excited to return.  It will also make a good waystation between Grandpa and Grandma Johnson and home.

Newborn lambs - cute

Hoop and stick, one of many popular games.  I can see this coming to Xbox Kinect, Wii, and iPhone.  We don't have any of those but I can envision 19th century games fitting into the format.

Pleasant picnic spot

Town watering hole - very popular among kids and adults
