The first attraction we entered was the Desert Dome. Above ground are samples of flora and fauna from the major desert regions of the world. Below ground it contains nocturnal creatures in a very realistic cavern and a full swamp replete with beavers and crocodiles.
All the Johnson grand-daughters
Next it was on to the orangutans and gorillas
This gorilla liked to entertain the crowd by pounding on the glass where you see all the people while pounding his chest and roaring. I'm sure he found it entertaining to watch people's heart-stopped expressions.
Ashley needed a quick refresh, and Rose was an excellent helper
The cat house is large and varied. Unfortunately Lauren felt a bit under the weather so I was carrying her and not snapping pictures of the Siberian tigers, white tigers, snow leopards, leopards, jaguars, lynx, and many others. I did manage this great lion shot.
The zoo's first major indoor attraction was the Lied Jungle, an indoor rainforest again representing most regions of the world. It's huge, humid, and fun, fun, fun!
Our last stop in the zoo was the new butterfly house.
